It's Over...
The speculation is finally over... Air2there.Com (2008) Limited. Air Wellington Limited and Kingair Limited were all placed in receivership today, a sad end for all involved.

Sad to see Air2there fold. Loved the simple green tail and the cheat line.
Air Chathams.... a replacement to the metros potentially... who here knows the cost operations and the efficiency between the j31/32 vs the metros....?
ReplyDeleteJetstream is a little more comfortable. Metro is superior in every other way. Cargo door/config change ect.
DeleteAgreed... Metro has a lot more advantages than a J32... Air Chathams use the Metro for passengers and freight so the big cargo door is ideal. Also, no advantage getting a new type for Air Chathams when they are both similar age
DeleteI used to spend a lot of time Ground handling Vincent's J32s when they were operating for Eagle. Hateful aircraft to load. A tiny as hold up the steps next to the toilet, and a ridiculous pod underneath. Crouching down next to a engine that's still screaming hot in the middle of summer loading surfboards in the pod -fun!!! :( I did like that the Ground Power inlet was on the nose, as apposed to the 1900D which is round the back.

Where would the metro sit? Are they a practical aircraft with potential for a modern refit/efficient engine redesign to replace older aircraft and refill niches around the world?
Negative. Metroliner lacks any passenger appeal. General Joe Bloggs doesn't want to have to stoop and crawl back to their seat. Just wont happen
DeleteThe J32s are Originairs, they were just under Air2theres AOC. Origin has said there are plans in the works for the J32s getting airborne again. They are not Air2theres to sell
ReplyDeleteI think you'll find they are also not origin airs only the JS31 is! However, one would guess ECI would go to operating with them due to being in the livery and with the actual owner possibly not having any other flying for them. ECJ will need a fair bit of work to be brought up to flying standard Im guessing since its been parked up for a while. Staffing 2-3 aircraft in the short term....now that is another issue!
