Delighted to catch ZK-TXC

I was delighted to capture Texel Air Boeing 737-8FE ZK-TXC today operating TNZ 6102 from Christchurch to Auckland.

It arrived into Hamilton on the 28th of November 2023 to be prepared for service. On the 25th of January 2024 it positioned to Auckland as TNZ 92. On the 1st of February 2024 it flew its first Texel flights operating TNZ 73 to Christchurch and the return TNZ 74.

Aviation 100 at Hokitika

It's been a wonderful weekend in Hokitika celebrating a 100 years of flying in Westland. Great presentations last night at the Regent Theatre and on the bus tour today...

Dr Teichelmann's house... a beloved doctor in town and who paid for the Captain Buckley's Avro 504K to be railed to Hokitika for the 1924 Empire Exhibition. He was also a great mountain climber, photographer and an investor in early West Coast flying efforts

The Fox Moth replica which used to be in a special building at the airport terminal is now in the adjacent Industrial Park... A much better display and people can have a really good wander about the replica

ZK-TXC enters service

Texel Air's newest freighter entered service last night. Boeing 737-8FE arrived in New Zealand as VP-CJA arrived into Hamilton on the 28th of November 2023 and was being prepared for service since then.

On the 25th of January 2024 it positioned to Auckland as TNZ 92 and has been parked in an unphotographable position outside DHL since. Ironically I could have got a photo yesterday but was stuck in an aisle seat on my flight to Wellington.

Last night, 1 February 2024, still in an all white scheme, (as suggested to me, in Airwork's scheme), it flew its first Texel flights operating TNZ 73 to Christchurch and the return TNZ 74. It then operated another return flight to Christchurch in the early hours of this morning as TNZ 74 and TNZ 77.

 

This coming weekend... pity about the weather forecast
