Northland changes

Thanks to Josh who sent these photos of Sunair Aztecs ZK-FVP and ZK-PIX at Whangarei on 6 September 2016... Last week the Aztecs were used to fly between Whangarei and Kaitaia, up in the morning and back late afternoon so I am assuming Sunair is now flying the doctors service to Kaitaia for the local Health Board instead of Barrier... It looks as if Barrier Air stopped operating their Auckland-Whangarei-Kaitaia service in mid August. Barrier Air still operates a Sunday to Friday Auckland-Kaitaia and a Monday to Friday Kaitaia to Auckland service.

  1. It looks like they're taking over the old NDAC building to use as a terminal for the doctors flight, and starting a new WRE-HLZ serivce, with connections on to TGA and ROT.
3 Aztecs to be based in WRE so I think they might try picking up some work to GBA also.

  2. Makes sense... Maybe WRE-NOR-HLZ

  3. Saw ZK-FOP at NZNE hasn't moved in a while. ZK-RDT seems to have gone. I wonder if something happened to FOP and they couldn't fly it? I envisage Barrier Air are chartering Sunair to fly their services for the Health board?

    1. I dont think there is anything wrong with FOP. I think Barrier Air are just done with PA31s..

    2. If they have an aircraft serviceable why are they chartering/leasing Sunair's aircraft? Illogical

    3. Barrier Air have nothing to do with Sun Air. Barrier Air are no longer serving the NDHB contract. Sun Air are on their own.

  4. I asked Barrier Air about their WRE flights the other day and the response was "Watch this space. Plenty of work happening behind the scenes"

    1. I wonder what ever happened to their HAM services. With one aircraft very impressive to do KAT, GBZ and WRE! I can't really see what they are going to do with WRE, can't compete to AA against the big boy, and how many people want to go from WRE to KAT daily?
