This blog started off by focussing on NZ's smaller 3rd level airlines, past and present. It has evolved to trying to present some record of NZ's domestic airline operations and some of the larger charter operators, interesting NZ international airliner movements and photos I have taken around the country. Just how much faster is a Mitsubishi MU2?
The Westpac Mu2 and a Sunair Aztec just took off from Hamilton bound for Gisborne... I know which I'd prefer to fly in!
There are lots of Mu2's in NZ though only two flying that I know of. Bit of a shady history, I wouldn't get in one by choice, particularly at night / in icing conditions
31 mins vs 54 mins!!!!! Thats insane!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting didn't expect them to fly together. Is the MU2 a helicopter?
ReplyDeleteJarden, check out http://3rdlevelnz.blogspot.co.nz/2013/11/air-central-north-island-commuter.html
ReplyDeleteSunair is in a sense the successor to Air Central...
How many Mu2's is Sunair going to have concsider that product of the aircraft ceased in 1986?
ReplyDeleteAre they getting Mu-2N for seating up to 12 people?
Haha what a joke, sunair spending real money on proper gear???
DeleteThat's the air ambo mu2 based in Hamilton
Sorry. I didn't released there where any Mu2's in NZ, as I haven't heard or seen them until the post:)

DeleteThe Airforce have about half a dozen MU2s but there are only used for engineers to learn on. Dont think they ever become airborne
DeleteMu2 has a very serious job to do...
ReplyDeleteAlways impressed when it scoots in over Hamilton. Those wingtip tanks give it a more impressive look.
