Two Jetstreams picked up


Appearing on the CAA register for air2there are the two Inflite Charter BAe Jetstream 32s ZK-ECI and ZK-ECJ. Air2there operates Originair's services and so I presume they are for Originair instead of air2there. BAe Jetstream 31 ZK-JSH is also registered to air2there. ZK-ECI is already in Originair colours having been used by Originair while Air Freight (NZ) operated their services. It has been parked at Auckland for the past year. ECI flew to Nelson yesterday.

Originair is currently operating air services between Nelson and Palmerston Noth and commences operations between Nelson and New Plymouth on 29 September 2017.

Any predictions of what they might do with three Jetstreams?

    1. Agree if either or both routes go daily an operational spare aircraft is a great idea. Especially given the ever increasing age of these British aircraft.

    2. When NPL starts a Jetstream will be required four days a week to operate a return service from NSN to both NPL and PMR - not great utilisation of 3 Jetstreams...

  7. They could paint up the new Jetsream in Sounds Air livery and lease it to them to start BHE to CHC. With another option could be to take up KRA's old routes DUD-NSN-HLZ/TRG.

    3. In its very short life KRA issued over 2.5 million shares, and even allowing for the sale of the Saab must have burned through a seven figure number. Passenger numbers were boosted by uneconomic fares. The company is currently subject to a striking off notice. If there had been any real value in its routes, Air Chathams could have kept them going with Metros.

    2. On 4 July 2017 the Grey District Council announced (Greymouth Star) that it was establishing an events centre on the west side of the runway at Greymouth Airport. During the days that events were open to the public the airport would be closed to all traffic except for emergency medical flights. The first event will be West Coast Ag Fest in April 2018, open for 2 days.The District Council appears to be signalling that it is no longer interested in attracting recommencement of scheduled air services as the airport will not always be open to them.

    1. Too much competition on the NSN/WLG market with JQ, NZ, and S8 flying the sector, which is perhaps why it wasn't restarted by Origin when they began flying again. NSN/CHC could do with some competition.

    2. Jetstar has cut back to just two returns a day now. Both completely unsuitable for business travel.

      As a regular business flyer, it's very difficult to get seats on the prime time business run with Air NZ.
      A competing, reliable, same daily scheduled weekday Jetstream services would be a fantastic extra boost. Origin Pacific went wrong by constantly changing times. Couldn't be relied on consistently.

      Qantas has began retrofitting the interiors and repainting of its remaining AU based Q300 fleet in the new roo livery. And naming its Dash 8's after Australian regional destinations,
      Several of these aircraft were still in the same livery they were delivered in.
      Qantas Link is increasing utilisation of its entire fleet, Australia wide. From the F100 & 717 right down to the Q200.

      It would seem the expected trickle of Q300s moving from Australia - the taps are now off. Qantas wants them back home on their own high yielding, high fares regional network.

  12. That was interesting that upshift link they were advertising NSN-CHC along with NPL, PMR and WLG last year. But nothing came of it.
