Remember the days...

Remember the days...

When Christchurch had a viewing deck...
When Christchurch had regular Boeing 747 flights...
When Christchurch saw Coast Air flying into it.

Thanks to Alistair for this great photo!

Coast Air's DHC Twin Otter ZK-OTR being refuelled at Christchurch probably in late 1986. In the background Air NZ Boeing 747 ZK-NZX and Qantas Boeing 747 VH-EBH

  1. Still sad about the loss of that old terminal and viewing deck. Many great memories up there. The new terminal is just horrible.
    Great photo!

  2. I hadn't really thought about it much Cameron, but now that you mention it, I agree with you. The upper level of the old terminal had an ethereal quality about it-usually sundrenched and offering a wide view of the apron.

The new one just seems banal and soulless.

  3. Spent many happy hours on the viewing decks as a young fellow in the 1960's and 70's. Great times.
