The issue remains however, over funding. Air Chathams have publicly said they will need council support to get any service over the line. MDC have said any venture must stand on their own two feet (as they've poured millions into upgrading the runway).
ReplyDeleteYeah exactly right. I just can't see it happening. To launch a service like this is going to require a LOT of investment and support to get it off the ground and making a return.
DeleteI'm not sure they have "poured" that much money into it. A local told me it was "shovel ready Covid money", bit rich to say they won't help an Airline get started when I the tax payer paid for it.
ReplyDeleteUmmm, the Council has literally said to the Public that there will not be any financial support offered to an Operator that wants to offer flights out of Hood.
