Originair continues to struggle to get airborne again. The company's reservations system has now pushed out the start of flights for another month until the 22nd of March.
Originair's last flights were flown on the weekend of the 30 November-3 December by Skyline Aviation.
The Originair's Facebook page continues to invite people to "book now"...
As much as I want to see OriginAir up in the air again, with or without the jetstreams, this is turning into the air2there saga and we know how that story unfolded.
ReplyDeleteThe reason they're in this predicament is because of the air2there saga. They no longer have an AOC to operate under.
DeleteYes exactly, but JSH just after Air2there's downfall went to their name, so my guess is they're still waiting on something else to get in the air again
DeleteYes, their AOC
DeleteJSH is owned by Origin Air Limited PO Box 2574 STOKE Nelson 7041 according to the CAA register.

DeleteYour not seeing my point. I realise they dont have an AOC, but since they own JSH for the first time, they could be going down a different path, using their own aircraft...
DeleteThe ownership of the aircraft has been since the days of origin pacific. Under the CAA rules "ownership" is whoever operates the machine for more than 28 days basically
DeleteSo what of the flight crews. They must be no longer current on the J32's, or are they flying elsewhere to maintain currency.
ReplyDeleteCurrency is only a flight test away
DeleteI was a Origin Air frequent flyer (at least 4-8 flights a month) Since the grounding I have gone back to Air NZ. Origin offered a great, reliable service that was very handy. I have contacted Origin several times over the last few months, only to be told to hold tight, that they hope to be flying shortly. They keep pushing it back, and back. I understand it's a shifting target for them too, but loyal customers are getting frustrated, and what with loyalty, lounge entry, good timings and good prices ect with Air NZ, will make it hard to go back to Origin. Coming back to Nelson I can get a transit of 35mins in WLG which is not bad!
ReplyDeleteCome back soon Origin! I miss the J32 and the direct link!
Lounges aren't what they used to be. Always full, often I walk straight back out. Credit card passes seem to let alot more people in these days.
ReplyDeleteYeah but still beats sitting in a terminal. Especially when flying up to 6 times a week. I hear this a lot, but I am grateful I can go to a place, have a drink and something to eat before boarding my flight. It's all how you look at it. :) :)
DeleteWhat is the issue about Originair getting their own AOC?
ReplyDeleteLooks like the start of flights has been pushed out even further. really Originair need to come clean with what's going on.
