Hokitika first saw Air Nelson's Metroliners on the 20th of November 1988 when ZK-NSW did a familiarisation flight to Hokitika under the command of Captain Paul Kolisch. Scheduled flights started the next day, some 7 weeks after Air Nelson had replaced Air New Zealand's Friendship service on 31 October 1998.
