On Friday 10 June Air New Zealand Link flight 2106, (Eagle 106) from Palmerston North to Hamilton, operated by ZK-EAD, marked the half millionth flight for Eagle Air’s fleet of 18 Beech 1900D aircraft. Palmerston North is a particularly fitting flight to mark this occasion; while Eagle Air started operating the Beech in 2001, the Palmerston North-Hamilton service has been operated on a scheduled basis since the inception of Eagle Air’s passenger operation in October 1975. Since then the service has been operated by Beech Baron, Piper Chieftain, Mitsubishi MU2, Embraer Bandeirante, Fairchild Metroliner aircraft and now the Beech 1900D. The 500,000th flight was operated by Hamilton crew, Captain Gavin Miller and First Officer Ian Tripp. Along for the ride was trainee pilot Lance Whittle. Gavin and his crew marked the occasion with a special PA and a small gift from Eagle Air to each passenger.
