Why can't Air NZ use Christchurch for flights to/from other Asian destinations, its cheaper for Air NZ to fly from Auckland plus they don't want to take traffic away from the Auckland hub. At present, they are leaving that to Singapore Airlines ex Christchurch. Things might change when they receive the remaining 3 B789's. They still have options on additional B787's.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, the loads you can get from AKL for the same asset and therefore returns means it doesn't make sense to run unsustainable services from CHC.
DeleteMinimum loading on long haul tends to require at least 80%. The seasonal routes to Japan and Perth barely achieved this.
I was also at CHC yesterday Steve very near to you by your photos. Did you see the DC-8 land?
ReplyDeleteNo I didn't see it... I didn't know it was coming. What time did it arrive?
DeleteSteve it landed at 1805. I have sent you the picture
