A new airline coming to and in NZ???

Get behind a new airline! Looking for $500,000 to the airline and you go into the draw to win free flights for the first year! (T&C's Apply)

We are in the process of starting a New airline in New Zealand to provide reliable transport at cheap prices thought New Zealand and across the Tasman to Australia!

People are sick of paying to much for Air New Zealand, their flight not taking off for Jet Star and being stuck in the middle seat.... We have solved these problems! Our business strategy has allowed us to find the balance between cheap and reliable flights and we use Embraer Aircraft which NO other airline in New Zealand uses! They have no middle seats and we will be providing business class seats on domestic flights!

Focused on providing quality service, for both locals and tourists, we have the right strategy and we want your support!

The money will be used to help secure aircraft loans, fund high quality staff training and help supply accommodation to staff.

Oceania Air is advertising for flight crew and cabin crew. Funding for the airline seems to be the Give a Little Page above... no one has given even a little at present!

So I don't think it would fly!

But I would love to see some E-jets in NZ skies!

  2. The Ejets did not work out in Aussie, so I can,t see them working out in NZ...possibly best to move for the $500K to charitable donations or just throw out the window...taking on Air NZ has never worked...by any carrier

    1. Why haven't Embraer E-jets worked in Australia?

    2. Take a look at Ejet for performance, wet runway, swings, impact of temps in summer etc. pay load impacts
Turbo props will always beat jet under 75 mins and based on low population base. E jets will be huge financial risk....

  3. I'd rather invest 500k in Air Chats, especially now the runway on the Chathams has got the nod to be extended. The 737 may not be far off!!!

    1. My bad^^^ The PGF has only given the Chats $98000 to produce 'business case' for the new runway extension

  4. I have though of the idea of a regional jet network concept using Embraer E-Jets on routes that Air NZ doesn't operate A320's on, to airports that are certified for jet operation, like Hamilton, Napier and Invercagill plus Queenstown, Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.

    The route structure would be like HLZ/CHC, HLZ/DUD, HLZ/WLG,WLG/IVC, AKL/NPE, NPE/CHC, NPE/DUD, CHC/ZQN, CHC/IVC, WLG/CHC, CHC/DUD, etc.

Whilst jets have a higher operating costs compared to the ATR72's, air fares would be slight cheaper due to lower company operating costs compared to Air NZ but it would passengers the option of traveling on an ATR or a an E-Jet, I would choose an E-Jet.

The other advantage of operating E-Jets on regional routes, they have higher freight capacity compared to the ATR's.

The region jet network is not about competing with Air NZ, its about giving passengers and regionally based companies options.

How would that not be competing with Air NZ???????????

    1. Its about giving a choice to travelers whether they want to fly on a ATR or a jet. I don't consider that competition. The question I ask, would you travel on a ATR72/Q300 or a E-Jet if the fares were the same?

    2. Its still competition. Just because it's a different kind of plan doesn't not make it competition.

And being that a ATR is far cheaper to operate than a E Jet, you would be hard pressed to find fares that were the same.

    3. For me given the choice of jet or an ATR with the same fare I would choose the most suitable for my needs

  6. Ah folks, all we have here is a teenager from Arrowtown seeking half a million dollars in money from gullible fools. With the greatest of respect, the recent debacle that was Kiwi Regional saw the investors there sink (and wave goodbye to) considerable sums of money in a miss-thought out venture (and that was just the operation of a small turboprop!)

Based on the 2011 article and other research, I'd pick the director to be an 18 year old kitchen hand from central Otago. Make of that what you will.

  7. The givealittle page hasn't been moderated so isn't open to donations yet. As much as I'd like to see this succeed, I'm not sure it will. Perhaps a better investment is elsewhere in aviation?

  8. Googled Oceania Air and Google came up with Oceania Aviation who are light aircraft brokers. I wonder what they think of the name choice

  9. $500k would barely cover CAA compliance costs let alone initial aircraft lease costs. This is just someone having a laugh.

  13. Well, he thinks he is still a runner. Here is one of the questions for applicants just circulated today:

"Do you understand that a job cannot be guaranteed until the appropriate certificates are obtained & do you understand that this can only be achieved if you put in commitment prior?"

Elsewhere, applicants are being asked to write expositions and manuals "for which they will be back-paid". Yeah right!
