VIRus Buster

With the West Coast base hospital being located at Greymouth the town's airport is regularly visited by air ambulances from Christchurch. A lesser known regular service is the doctor flight to Karamea each Tuesday which is operated by Air West Coast's Cessna P210N Centurion ZK-VIR. The Centurion flies up early in the morning and returns late in the afternoon. The ZK-VIR registration is not really a reference to VIRus busting but it is quite apt... VIR is a follow on to the airline's Piper Chieftain ZK-VIP and is the same registration previously carried by their Dornier 228.

Off to Karamea on 9 April 2013, Air West Coast's Cessna Centurion with  its four bladed prop making it a quiet machine taxis out from Greymouth for a Runway 01 departure to the north.
