Goodbye Auckland


Today marks the end of Eagle Air services through Auckland as well as to Wanganui, Taupo, Rotorua, and Tauranga. The Hamilton to Auckland service also ends today.

Eagle Air first started flying to Auckland on the 16th of June 1980 when Embraer Bandeirante ZK-ERU introduced four flights  a day between the two centres replacing Air New Zealand's Friendship service between the two centres.

Eagle Air Beech 1900s continue to fly flights to from Christchurch to Blenheim and Hokitika, from Wellington to Blenheim, Gisborne, Palmerston North and Timaru and from Hamilton t Palmerston North. The final Beech 1900 service will operate on 26 August 2016.

  2. Took my last Hlz-Akl-Hlz ride on Friday. Did the 6am depart...little bit late leaving. Still worth it and full both ways.
    The effect on booking options and prices are so obvious. Flights to Australia now via Wellington if you cant be arsed driving up to Akl and risk parking up the car.
    Barrier Air from tomorrow with a surprisingly good network connection to upper centres.
