  1. The Koru and the Silver Fern has gone so it looks like the MCB is due to leave the Mt Cook fleet.

    1. It was due to earlier in the year but the sale fell through. It has been flying like this as a spare aeroplane for most of the year

    1. Rumour going around is Air Chathams are getting 2 more ATRs. My guess, if true, is they'll be ex Mount Cook ones again...

  3. They would be wiser buying Q300's. The ATR500's are a piece of crap. Ask any pilot.

    2. "Ask any pilot"

6000 hour ATR pilot here. It's a perfectly capable aircraft that gets the job done with a minimum of fuss.

Have you flown it? Are you even a pilot?

    3. I think the saying goes that an aircraft is a thousand compromises flying in close formation. There's not an aircraft on the face of the planet that doesn't have it's drawbacks. Apart from those friggin frustrating delays on 23L while they sort out their heading mis-match dramas and the odd yipee bounce in a crosswind they look as if they're going backwards and forwards ok.
