Barrier Air has announced autumn/winter operational changes for Tauranga, Whitianga and North Shore.
The Tauranga route will take its annual winter break from May until the start of October when this Great Barrier Island - Tauranga flights will recommence.
The Auckland - Whitianga route will operate on a reduced flight schedule from May through October. Flights will be reduced to four days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings, and Sunday afternoons.
From mid-May, the North Shore - Great Barrier Island route will operate on a reduced schedule of Friday and Sunday flights only.
Cannot understand the reasoning of Barrier reducing the WTZ frequency over the Winter. Flights are near enough full, and people love, and support the service. Hard enough to get a seat sometimes if you book last minute! Granted the grass runway can cause some issues sometimes in extended wet weather. I would love to see the Strip sealed.
ReplyDeleteNow with this new winter schedule there is no opportunity to have a same day return over to Auckland, for meetings, site inspections ect. Back to the Road it is for me. There are a few around town that are disappointed by the changes.
