Barrier Air's Kerikeri Service Begins

It was champagne and cakes as Barrier Air launched its new Kerikeri-Auckland air service this evening  4 August 2024. The first flight, GB515, is being operated by Cessna 208B Grand Caravan ZK-SDG under the command of Steve Holden. The first southbound flight, GB504, will operate tomorrow, 5 August 2024 at 6.45am but the Tuesday to Friday flights depart at 5.45am.

11 return flights are being offered between the two centres each week.

Barrier Air's CEO Grant Bacon told 3rd Level NZ, It is great to be leveraging off the success of our Kaitaia route into another northland town. We see Kaitaia go from strength to strength on all measures and it is only logical that in order to continue our companies growth trajectory that we expand into Kerikeri. I have always liked the demographics of Kerikeri and it is a long commute to Auckland as opposed to say Whangārei.

We are really happy with the seat sales so far. The average fare price does need to rise a bit but given the tough economic conditions it will be a gradual and balanced approach. The support from KeriKeri locals has been brilliant so far. Also Far North Holdings have done a great job at assisting us into this new route. It is exciting times.

Auckland to Kerikeri flights:
✈️ Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays - Departing at 12:30pm and 6pm
✈️ Tuesdays and Thursdays - Departing at 6pm
✈️ Saturdays - Departing at 12:30pm

Kerikeri to Auckland flights:
✈️ Mondays - Departing at 6:45am and 1:45pm
✈️ Wednesdays - Departing at 5:45am and 1:45pm
✈️ Tuesdays and Thursdays - Departing at 5:45am
✈️ Fridays - Departing at 5:45am, 1:45pm and 7:15pm
✈️ Saturdays and Sundays - Departing at 1:45pm

And a note for other plane spotters who want to do an up and back there are lots of good fares as the new service beds in.
