My final post on Originair's inauguration of services to Westport on 3 January 2025 with coverage of flight OG 654 to Wellington.
After being suitably yellow coated, escorted out to get some photos of Jetstream 32 ZK-JSK at Westport in front of the town's very functional terminal building
The new check in already in place from New Year's Eve
The Westport crew with Originair's Customer Service Manager Tania Armstrong
4C this time, again, not the best for photography but we weren't to see much anyways
The terminal and now converted Flight Service Station control tower at Westport
Lining up for 22 and now the rain is clearing off
Coastal erosion is a threat to the airport
A poor shot of the Three Steeples, part of Black Reef off Cape Foulwind
Looking back towards the mouth of the Buller River and the airport as we climb into the murk.
Cape Foulwind as we climbed into the foul weather and winds for a bumpy but not uncomfortable ride back to Wellington
The next thing we saw was the southern coastline of the North Island near Baring Head
and the entrance to Wellington harbour
Back at the airport the weather was somewhat better
A look at immaculately presented cabin
JSK back at Wellington - and the weather was following
Again, a big thanks to the Originair team for a great afternoon
I hope the Westport service works well for everyone
