I stole this photo of Sounds Air's Pilatus PC12s ZK-PLX and ZK-PLT at Omaka from the Flinders Aviation Facebook page...
The comment is what interests me most... "Two of the PC12s Flinders Aviation painted for Sounds Air. Number 3 arriving the 15th of next month." Well PLS was certainly in the country on Thursday as I sighted at Wellington.... I don't think PLZ has skipped the country so is there yet another PC-12 on the way?
As an aside it is no longer possible to just wander down to the satellite terminal in Wellington anymore. This is most frustrating as I used to get some good pics down there!
Could be a repaint into Sounds Air livery for PLS or PLZ?

ReplyDeletePLZ was in Taupo today. takeabreak.co.nz there is a live webcam for those who are interested as well as Rotorua airport .. although you don't get a angle of gate 5/6 the international gate.
ReplyDeleteWhy won't it let me post comments from my laptop on this site..? Only from my phone
I have no idea Fraser... I haven't changed the security settings. Have you always had this issue???
DeleteHad the problem since upgrading to Windows 10 early last year. Must be a setting.. not sure how to fix it and who to ask..? Must be a blogspot setting.
DeleteSounds Air should operate a PPQ-CHC service with a PC12. The Air NZ service got loadings enough to fill a PC12. They couled also take on Air NZ on the Blenheim to CHC route on the days there is no Napier service. They currently have a 0700 to 0730 BHE to PPQ service weekdays. They could switch this to a PC12 then fly the service as 0645-0715 BHE to PPQ then 0745-0900 PPQ to CHC whilst a caravan dpee a return BHE-CHC and then the reverse in the afternoon/night
ReplyDeletePPQ-CHC would be better for KRA
ReplyDeleteI agree
DeleteSo they have got Four PC12s now what are all the registrations for them.
ReplyDeletePLS, PLT, PLX and PLZ are all in the country at present.
ReplyDeleteThis is number 5 though PLZ may return to Australia
Over hearing the ground staff talking to the Sounds air crew about pls and being slightly different to plz when pls first arrived at taupo. the sounds air crew said that pls with had been refitted especially for Sounds air... so possibly plz will be leaving and pls staying..?
ReplyDeleteI asked in the Facebook comments of Flinders Aviation and they said it's one coming over from NZ. So looks like a current one finally getting a repaint as PLX can cover the load.
ReplyDeletePLS was always due to return to Australia for a repaint once sufficient aircraft were in the fleet in NZ to cover requirements...and PLS was the first to undergo the cabin refit, avionics upgrade, new engine and five-blade propeller treatment in Feilding that the others have also mostly received as well.
ReplyDeleteIs there any reason why PLX is yet to fly the domestic routes.? Is it still getting refurbished..?
ReplyDeleteIt's been doing them for a few days now, just saw it come out of Westport
ReplyDeleteThis may have a use for it to start Blenheim to Christchurch flights.
ReplyDeleteThey could even look at serving Wanaka as well.
