Originair using Metros

I have noted on Flightaware and others have also emailed me that Originair have been using Metroliners on their services from Nelson to Palmerston North and Wellington for over a week now...

Does anyone know why the Jetstreams aren't being used???

  1. One Jetstream is parked just by the viewing carpark between main terminal and GA area, and other Jetstream is parked outside the Originair hangar at the GA area. Bizarre.

  2. I have heard that origin air have been grounded. Not sure as to why that is.

  3. another website notes that they're getting their own AOC so they can't fly without one, hence they're using Airwork's aircraft.

  4. does this have something to do with INFLIGHT flying a nelson - wellington route yesterday ?

    1. origin lease eci and ecj from inflite.

    2. Inflite and airwork are the same company. The metroliners are also operating as Inflite

  5. So what has happened to their original plan to operate as summarised on this site: "Because of the small scale of the operation Originair has contracted Air Freight NZ Ltd to carry out flight operations including air crew while Fieldair Engineering Ltd (Fieldair) are carrying out the fleet maintenance."?

  6. They're deleting any coments relating to their grounded fleet on their Facebook page and not answering questions.

Surprised it hasn't gotten to the media yet.

  7. Coincidentally their page on Wikipedia has been vandalised by a number of ip addresses in the last week.

    1. They've also done that on KRA and Sounds Air. Sounds Air are apparently starting a new service to Ngaruawahia and Springfield!

  8. Hard to believe an airline has had it's AOC 'pulled' and there's no mention at all in the media or from CAA...

    1. Aren't AirFreight runing their operations? So are they the ones that have lost their Air Operator Certificate?

Plus don't AirFreight now use Aircraft borrowed from Airwork/inflite?

It sounds like it is just people spreading false rumours.

    2. Clearly something major has happened and in the meantime a skeleton operation exists using chartered metroliner aircraft.

    3. No spending of false rumours here!

  9. A Jetstream with an Inflight callsign did one flight to Palmerston on Friday morning and a Metro in the afternoon... no flights to Wellington that I could see

  10. A lot of money spent on that J32 to have it sitting idle while paying for metros. Surely a robust contract was in place with Airfreight for AOC, crew and maintenance.

  11. Metros being used again today... no sign of any official reason being given

  12. The Sunday 2015 is Inflite INF121 for OG2216. So still on the Metros.
