This blog started off by focussing on NZ's smaller 3rd level airlines, past and present. It has evolved to trying to present some record of NZ's domestic airline operations and some of the larger charter operators, interesting NZ international airliner movements and photos I have taken around the country. This summer Air Chathams' Douglas DC-3 ZK-AWP is doing scenic flying from a few North Island airports... Already it has been doing flights from Tauranga, Whakatane and Whanganui and it is due to fly at the Art Deco weekend at Napier on the weekend of 17-18 February...

Hi Steve. What a shame we didn't meet. Email me in advance on a future planned visit. I was marshaling the DC-3 on Sunday. Sorry to hear about the bee sting. So far this summer from Tauranga, with two weekends to go, we have carried just on 1100 pax compared to last summer's 829. Two weekends ago AWP did 9 scenic flights out of Wanganui. No doubt it, people love DC-3s.
