This blog started off by focussing on NZ's smaller 3rd level airlines, past and present. It has evolved to trying to present some record of NZ's domestic airline operations and some of the larger charter operators, interesting NZ international airliner movements and photos I have taken around the country. What catches your eye???
I am having the big clean up ahead of the move to Christchurch in October and came across this postcard... There are a lot of interesting features in it. What catches your eye???
Apart from the awesome aircraft in the shot, what catches my eyes is that most of those buildings no longer exist. A handful of the smaller buildings in the background remain, and one of the hangers to the right. The rest have all been replaced. Oh how I miss that viewing deck.
Obviously the lovely DC-8 mixed with the DC-3's, but its the BAC-111 that got my attention on the ramp. Shows what could have been!
ReplyDelete111 caught my eye too. Thank goodness they went with the 737!

ReplyDeleteIs the DC-3 on the right hand side beyond the Deep Freeze barracks the one that went to Ferrymead???
ReplyDeleteLook at the size of the car park!
ReplyDeleteThat sexy BAC111
ReplyDeleteBack in the day when only a hip-high fence prevented the hoi poloi from wandering around.
